"I utilize Spiros Zohdiates New Testament Word Study Dictionary as well as Vine’s Expository Dictionary. Many people today scoff at the Greek. Many do not consider that the New Testament wasn’t written in English, or Latin, or Hebrew. The Epistles, or letters from which our New Testament comes from, were copied and circulated in the Greek language. My studies in the Koine’ Greek have taught me why God chose this language to reveal His Son and His marvelous plan of grace, and not some other language. For the Greek is most expressive while utilizing minimal words. This is why a preacher can preach for a whole hour from one verse of Scripture. If you think it takes discipline to listen for an hour, realize that the preparation time is probably six to eight hours for that one hour of exhortation. Also realize that God did indeed give gifts to the church…pastors and teachers. The job of these pastors and teachers is the edification of the body (see Ephesians 4:11-12). This word “edify” means to promote spiritual growth or to increase someone’s faith. My prayer is that this study will do just that for your benefit."
"One last thing, I prefer the King James Version by far over any of the newer translations. Very simply, I was raised on it. It served the English speaking church well for over four centuries, and it continues today. But the word studies in my writings find their substance in the native language, not in any translation."
"So I encourage one and all, open your Bibles, for this will make the greatest difference in Bible study. I believe that there is a “spiritual dynamic” that occurs as you see God’s Word on the page and read it. If you simply pass over those verses listed, that dynamic will not take place, as the consistency of Scripture is neglected or lost. Years of applying such study habits have taught me this!"
Each blog post is a brief selection taken from a larger study. The complete studies will also be made available as downloadable pdf files.
May God bless this effort to bless His people!
